The public record, explained

Barnstable Unofficial.
Beyond the feed.

Town-released correspondence shows Barnstable Unofficial material being referenced in letter-writing, meeting recruitment and communication with Councilors. This page traces that workflow and links the documents that support it, so readers can see how public discussion connects with municipal pressure.

An audience and a public narrative

In December 2024, Eric Schwaab told Kris Clark and Craig Tamash that most readers had moved from Nextdoor to Barnstable Unofficial. His email included text introduced as that day’s story, making the story text available to officials alongside the audience update.

The source records his own account of the transition. It does not independently measure the audience, confirm publication of the supplied text or show that every recipient accepted its claims.

Comments become organizing material

A May–June 2025 chain concerning Pleasant Hill Lane points readers to Barnstable Unofficial comments for inspiration. It offers help preparing letters, asks people to contact the Conservation Commission and copy Councilors, and discusses recruiting people for meetings.

This is an explicit link between online commentary and attempts to influence a municipal process. The reported letter total and recruitment support remain Schwaab’s accounts, and the record does not establish that he wrote other people’s signed letters or caused a decision.

Follow the official response

On 7 June 2025, Schwaab asked Tamash to circulate allegations about the Pleasant Hill hearing; Tamash reported forwarding them through the Council administrator. Another chain preserves Clark’s objections to an advance story and corrections of claims about her vote.

A separate Facebook-sharing exchange records Bloom’s favorable reply to a linked item, but does not establish which group hosted it. Following each reply prevents a request, an allegation or a proposed narrative from being mistaken for Council endorsement or an official finding.
