An email campaign links Barnstable Unofficial comments to Town submissions
A forwarded chain asks people to write the Conservation Commission, copy Councilors, share letters and attend meetings; it points to Barnstable Unofficial comments for inspiration.
People named in this record: Eric Schwaab, Charles Bloom, Sharon Barrows, Heather Swenson

Read the record
On June 2, Schwaab reports more than 30 letters sent the previous week, describes an offer of meeting-recruitment help from Save Twin Brooks, and asks recipients to oppose the development at 32 Pleasant Hill Lane by email, seek forwarding to the Commission and copy their Councilor. A quoted May 29 message encourages sharing letters and points readers to Bettina Abe’s Barnstable Unofficial comments for inspiration. A May 28 message offers help crafting letters or using his letter as a starting point. The chain preserves separately authored letters from Sharon Barrows and Heather Swenson, plus Schwaab’s request on behalf of Lisa and Jeff Daluz. Schwaab forwards the chain to Bloom on June 2 at 9:29 p.m. Additional checked pages preserve the May 28 offer to help write letters, the May 30 plan to use overlapping readership and STB membership for turnout, and the June 1 hope that the campaign had bought time to organize. The May 30 exchange also describes neighbors’ lack of computers or bandwidth and proposes connecting to Zoom from Town Hall. Abe urges the appeal route rather than relying on letters to reopen the hearing.
What it establishes
The source explicitly connects online comments, letter preparation, recruitment, submissions to a municipal body and copying or forwarding to a Councilor. Organized relationship between online commentary, group drafting, letters, officials and in-person participation.
Limits and context
The letter total and recruitment assistance are Schwaab’s reports, not independent counts or confirmation from the named group. The entry does not establish that he wrote other people’s letters, that copied officials agreed, or that the campaign caused a decision. Environmental and procedural criticisms remain attributed to the individual letter writers. The referenced Facebook comments have not been independently matched here. A claimed or hoped-for delay is not proof the letters caused one. The record does not show all proposed outreach occurred or that Schwaab wrote others’ signed letters. Preserve the access barriers and Abe’s differing procedural advice.
